How a Chantilly Roofing Project Works

Roofing Roughnecks uses the same five steps on every project. Here is what happens at each one and what we'll ask of you along the way.

  1. 01

    Consult

Review the current roof condition, concerns, budget priorities, and goals.

  2. 02

    Design

Develop the material plan, scope of work, and project timeline.

  3. 03

    Select

Finalize roofing materials, colors, and any window replacements.

  4. 04

    Build

Complete tear-off, decking repair, and new roof installation.

  5. 05

    Complete

Review final details, address closeout items, and confirm the finished roof.

1. Consult

We inspect the roof and listen. You tell us what prompted the call, whether that's a leak, storm damage, an HOA letter, a home sale or just age. Your part: have any records on the roof's age or past repairs handy, point out ceiling stains, and mention anything on the roof that isn't roofing, especially solar panels.

2. Design

We turn the inspection into a written scope: which roof areas, how many layers come off, the decking assumption, underlayment and flashing details, ventilation changes and cleanup. Your part: read it, ask about anything vague, and compare it line by line with any other proposal you're considering. For a Chantilly address, we'll also note whether the home is under Fairfax County or, for some 20152 addresses, Loudoun County.

3. Select

You choose the shingle line and color, and any windows being replaced. Your part: if your neighborhood has an HOA, submit the color and product for architectural review now, before materials are ordered. If solar panels need to come off, this is when you bring in your solar provider.

4. Build

Tear-off, decking repair where needed, and the new roof go on. Your part: clear the driveway, move cars and patio furniture, keep kids and pets away from the drip line, and expect noise. If the crew finds damaged decking beyond what the scope assumed, you'll see it and approve it before it's added.

5. Complete

We walk the finished roof and the property with you, address closeout items, and confirm the work matches the scope. Your part: look at the yard, gutters, driveway and landscaping, raise anything you see, and keep the final paperwork with your home records.

Weather is part of every schedule

Roofing is outdoor work, and Northern Virginia rain, wind and cold all affect when a roof can be opened. We'll talk through how weather changes are handled before a date is set.
